Кхе-кхе. Не понимаю зачем идти на курсы, чтобы только сделать себе сайт. За те же деньги можно заказать нормальный дизайн и это будет дизайн, а не чудо "вырви глаз - вставь в попу", как по ссылке.
По одной работе, конечно, сложно судить, но из того что видно на примере сайта писательницы я могу сделать вывод, что на курсах учат скорее технически пользоваться программами, а не дизайну как таковому.
